The first ever jazz orchestra piece Mason had began writing. Started in 2009, Mason completed Willow Trees after his first year in college. Since then, Willow Trees has been critically acclaimed, being performed by Mark Promane's Humber College Big Band and Josh Grossman's Toronto Jazz Orchestra. The piece is written in three parts depicting the life of a tree. Features a plethora of instruments including the voice, piano, soprano sax, guitar and entire ensemble through a horn-only shout section.
